Berilia was one of the four World Elephants that stood on the shell of the World Turtle, the Great A'Tuin. Along with its fellows, Tubul, Great T'Phon, and Jerakeen, it shouldered the weight of the Discworld upon its back.
Berilia is a homophone of Beryllia the oxide of Berylium.
